After testing on the site of Twentse Weg- en Waterbouw BV ( TWW ) in Borne and on the Lansinkesweg in Hengelo, the time has come after two years of development in cooperation with Asfalt Centrale Twente ( ACT ). The fibre-reinforced asphalt was used in the reconstruction of the Rijksweg in Doetinchem. The contractor here was Dostal.
Two layers of asphalt have been replaced with fibre-reinforced asphalt. The fibre used is Fibrofor® High Grade. Because of the strong fibre in the asphalt, it has a longer lifespan. This means that less asphalt is needed and therefore less raw materials are used. This ensures that the entire process in the project is more sustainable. To be able to use constructive synthetic fibres in asphalt, it must be produced at a low temperature, which alone reduces CO2 emissions.
- More abrasive surface
- Asphalt thickness reduced
- Shorter project lead time
